Our home city and the middle of everything we do. An independent city, so it is its own jurisdiction rather than part of Albemarle — and a mix of tight in-town driveways, university-adjacent rentals and commercial lots that see heavy daily turnover.

The county wrapped around Charlottesville, and the one we are in most days. It runs from the Rivanna bottomland out to the foot of the Blue Ridge, which means the same county gives us flat suburban driveways and drives with a grade steep enough that drainage decides the whole design.

East of us along the I-64 corridor. Louisa mixes agricultural land with a large amount of lake-adjacent and subdivision development, which produces exactly the two jobs we see most: long rural driveways and private HOA roads nobody else maintains.

Southwest of us on the Blue Ridge. Nelson is the most vertical county we work in, and gradient changes the job: water moves fast, run-off crosses driveways rather than running beside them, and cold nights at elevation put a surface through more freeze-thaw cycles than the valley sees.

Immediately north of Albemarle on the 29 corridor. Greene is compact and fast-growing, with new subdivision streets going in near the highway and long-established rural drives further back toward the mountains.

Northeast of us across the Rapidan watershed. Orange is farm and historic-estate country with two incorporated towns, and a lot of the work here is long private drives and estate roads that carry more weight than a domestic driveway ever does.
